Martin Buber False Prophets (Jeremiah 28)

"Hananiah said in the presence of all the people: "Thus says the LORD: 'Even so, within two years I will break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, from off the neck of all the nations.'" At that, the prophet Jeremiah went away." (Jer28:11)

Why did Jeremiah go? Obviously, because in spite of everything there were still things he did not know. Hananiah had spoken like a man who "knows it all". He considered himself a great politician, for he thought that in an hour of danger he had succeed in strengthening the people's resistance. But what he actually strengthened was an illusion, which when it collapsed would cause the collapse of the people's strength.
The true prophets are the true politicians of reality, for they proclaim their political tidings from the viewpoint of the complete historical reality, which given them to see.
How poor is the one reality in the face of the thousand dreams! False prophets are not godless. They adore the god of "success".

Paul's the most beautiful quotes

Gal 2:19-20
"For through the law I died to the law, that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ; yet I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me; insofar as I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who has loved me and given himself up for me

Gal 6:14
"But may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which 10 the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world."

Gal 5:6
"For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love."

Phil 1:21
"For to me life is Christ, and death is gain."

1Cor 2:2
"For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified."

Rom 8:38-39
"For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
